Maybe some exact populations. My father is Ryazan/Nizhny Novgorod Russian, up to my great grandfathers no addicts and everyone used to drink, my mother is of Southern Russian ancestry with ethnic groups listed in my profile, they drank and produced even more alcohol but no addicts recorded, too.

My mother always drank one glass of wine or beer on any holiday, my father and I always drank more, like a bottle of cognac or enough of wine for two. I drank vodka sometimes in period 2005-2009 during my university years, with uni colleagues. And I remember that our family has always had an arrogant attitude towards drunks, that is, people who cannot control themselves. Over the years, I realized that this attitude is not good and largely depends on physiology.

I remember when I was like 10 years old, in Nikolaev (now Ukraine) when my father was drinking cold beer with husband of my aunt, he always gave me 1/3 of beer glass lol. Since 13 years old in Moscow I've started drinking 1-2 beers with my schoolmate so it was an age when I've started drinking.

It's true too. But very many people would say childhood was the most happy part of their lives and the above stated should be the reason for it, I guess.

Just when that mechanism is screwed with an addiction, it makes things worse than it could be naturally.
