It should be legal but strictly regulated. Cut out the criminals and profiteers, and make it a more "clean" trade.

Prostitution is one of those things that will always exist, in one shape or form. It's better to have it in a regulated form, than banning it altogether and then pretending it won't happen anyway. I believe Thomas Aquinas even argued against the idea to ban prostitution, because society needed this outlet. Every palace needs to have a cesspool, otherwise the entire palace will reek of shit.

Also, the rape stats would skyrocket if you banned it altogether.

Legal but regulated. People (women or men) who do it should have obligation to control their health every month or every three months. Their clients should be aware of their health situation. Prostitution should be illegal for those younger than 18.

There are many negative aspects of this job, but however, many people who are today in it are victims of human trafficking. If we legalize prostitution, but control it, maybe it will be easier to control who stands behind criminal activities (like human trafficking and many more).

its not an ideal situation for people to put themselves in, but as it is here, I don't see the point in banning it as they just makes criminals out of people.

All the laws are in place to protect prostitutes in the UK, but they are not enforced rigourously enough.

No changes to the law are required, but the law needs to step up and enforce it.

here in Italy prostitution isn't illegal, but it is not regulated since 50's (when the brothels were legals), it means that today prostitutes don't pay taxes,
i'm agree with legal and regulated prostitution as happened in the past, we need money for reduce the public debt, and according to the statistics in italy lives between 50,000 and 70,000 prostitutes!

No, it should never be legal for the sake of the preservation of culture and decency. For the state to make it legal would allow for chaos and disorder to enter into the confines of society.

That which comes in conflict with culture and decency is immoral and therefore that which is moral conforms with that which is cultured and ordered. The state would be directly in contradiction with its obligation and duty which is to preserve the order of law.

The order of law would be violated by allowing prostitutes to go free in society. Sexual promiscuity should not be allowed for the sake of intellectual and moral integrity and prostitution is included. Prostitutes should be seen as criminals and social deviants who should be locked up in prison and fined.

I prefer anytime the perverts to go to a brothel and "unload" there, than into a little helpless and hopeless child that is playing in park, oh cliche! but hey, its a fact. Just imagine the trauma a child or a victim in general has to go through in a case like this .

If there was a "0 prostitution factor" we would have way higher rape rates and pedophile attacks (since children are way easier to rape/attack).

I don't know if a correlation can be made. I think people use this as an excuse to get involved in prostitution and pornography. I think people should learn to become more disciplined and to self-master their behaviors and actions. If they can not do so then they must have a problem and should probably see a psychologist. People are too weak if they can not discipline themselves and learn self-control, they should learn it because its economical and the State should come down hard with the law on people who don't.
