.. what was your best vacation so far..?..


For me, I once visited a friend of mine who had moved to England..

.. gotta say, English harbour towns have something..


I enjoyed every bit of it..


.. I particularly remember a location there close to the water called, quote, The Pleasuredome..

A kind of gambling - casino - slot machine attraction...

I myself stem from a harbour-town ( see my location-information ) , yet "a bit of adventure" is always nice...

My best travel experiences was driving without any specific destination, we would stop, eat and sleep where we saw something we liked and when we wanted, no pre defined schedules, no obligation to visit this or that and we avoided the big touristic destinations, major cities and highways. Of course that is most feasible in Europe since the distances and interesting places are much more concentrated. The real gems in Europe are not the major destinations crowded with pesty tourists, rude people and tourist traps, far from it.

I might add, concerning my described vacation above that we ( my wife and me) wanted to go see London during the same vacation. Yet, we had been told that the weather during that time there was said to have been so bad .. that many Londoners themselves actually had left .. or so we were told..



Hmmmm... do not want to ride around on the cliche here again that "the weather is often bad in London "

Gotta say , Rome, where my wife and me went about four years ago, is always worth a visit...


Rome ain't called 'the eternal city ' for nothin' ..

.. a walk through Rome in a way can mean to travel through time..

You have a lot of paganism ( Greco- Roman gods, their statues ) , early christianity , Middle Ages and so on ..

My first trip to Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia some 15 years ago, I took a 28 days vacation at job (it was possible) and had nice time in Balkan realm.

I guess it's easier to find what was my worst vacation. It was a few years ago, before my daughter was born. My husband invited me to the south of France for the end of year celebrations. So we stayed three weeks in December-January, for Christmas and the New Year, in Occitania, a very beautiful region, to visit cities such as Carcassonne, Toulouse, as well as plenty of Cathar castles. It was in winter, but the weather was very nice, it was warm. The problem is that I cried almost all the time, because I wanted to be beautiful. Since then, my husband has been reluctant to go on a trip with me.
