Default Is GEDmatch database a bogus?

I started to think that GEDmatch database is a bogus. The reason for this is, there is no explanation on anywhere how the database is obtained. Also, some populations' diversity is not as high as expected in GEDmatch database. Therefore, I started to think that GEDmatch database is not from real people but generated by the site owners.

Gedmatch is only a software which helps you to compare individual DNA results with the database of some projects such as Dodecad, Euregenes, HarappaWorld and etc. Those projects obtain their database in the end of long-lasting researches but I also don't know the details.

Hi. I'm curious to see your results. Turkish with Bosnian Herzegowina ancestry. I met turks before who had Albanian Bosnian roots, like a parent or grandmother.

Generally it's common to have Bosnian and Albanian admixture in Turks. But the wast majority of turks are not directly from Bosnians and Albanians. I mean there are maybe 50 milion turks. I'm also suprised how we from the Balkan seem to not have picked up more Turkish ancestry in those 400 years of the ottoman Empire. I'm from Herzegowina btw. I do have 9% West Asian, which is very common. Even Germans have it.

Sounds like you're results were very unexpected judging by your reaction.

I don't understand how your ancestry is Bosnia Herzegowina but your ethnicity is turkish ? Are you Bosanac or turak ? Do you speak Bosnian ? Are your parents from Bosnia or from Turkey ? I don't fully understand. If you are Bosnian genetically your results should look at least halfway similar to mine. I'm Croatian from Herzegowina.

My parents are Turks from Bosnia. At least, this is what I have been told. When I am asked where I am from, I say I am from İstanbul, since I was born and grew up there. When I am asked where I am originally from, I say I am originally from Bosnia Herzegovina.

My mother and her parents can speak a little bit of Bosnian. My father's parents can also.

I have not taken a DNA test. I used to think of getting one but I gave up because of three reasons:
    - I started to think it might be a waste of privacy (see [LINK]https://www.investors.com/politics/commentary/dna-testing-kits-risks-privacy/[/LINK])
    - It is too expensive for me.
    - The last, but not the least; the results on GEDmatch is not accurate, at least for my ethnicity. To be more clear, almost all samples of Turkish people on GEDmatch are in the West Asian cluster. However, Turks do not have a single cluster thanks to our genetic diversity.

Bro nobody got a single cluster. I got 9% West Asian. Turks probably have high west Asian. There is no unique nationality gene. Countries are based of how much of what they have. Croatians and Bosnians got highest Baltic, then Mediterranean, then Nord athlantic then west Asian. A tiny bit Semitic and random low % of Asian / Siberia.

Oh so they do speak Bosnian. Yeah you're probably part Bosnian. I'm from Herzegowina and we don't got any turks. Maybe Bosnia does. Maybe you're parents are full bosnians and you are now half Turkish or even predominantly Bosnian. Def sounds like you are part Bosnian.
