This is too complicated and expensive, and requires the pooling of almost all the planet's resources in one hand (while they are not yet exhausted). Therefore, such planetary tasks require a change in the goal setting of society - plan instead of market, cooperation instead of competition, an idea instead of personal profit, positivism instead of depression, plus inevitably a course towards smoothing out national and religious differences.
Otherwise, humanity has a chance to flush all its remaining resources down the toilet and finally degrade to the state of animals, and forget about space forever.

That is precisely why humanity needs to explore space, to search for resources, the earth's resources will one day run out and when that happens there will be a catastrophe, we will only be able to move forward if we explore the last frontier that we have left, In space there are many places to obtain resources, including another home.

I agree, in the short term it will be Mars and some moons of the solar system, in the long term exoplanets when you can travel outside the solar system.

I think it is an exaggeration to say that we are still in our 60s because in the last 20-30 years we have seen some progress. What is true is that we are still in our infancy and we still have a long way to go.

Nothing is gonna happen until at least a few centuries. Very small number of humans have traveled 1 lightsecond from this planet and stayed there a few days. Mars is 12 lightminutes away and the radiation during travel and stay there is too much for humans.

A base on the moon would be a major achievement.

no problem, and once you have made enough O2 most of it is going to get recycled and you need lower maintenance dose.
