eek Lampedusa's population DOUBLES in less than one week due to migrants

    https://apnews.com/article/lampedusa...c273a3929b74c8

As Italian television station Sky TG24 filmed outside the center, people could be seen climbing over a wall in the background.

[...] Lampedusa’s mayor, Filippo Mannino, lashed out at the European Union for leaving Italy alone to handle large numbers of arriving migrants, saying the bloc had “remained silent all these months.” He called for a structural solution and told Sky that Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni had pledged her support.

Speaking at a demographics conference in Hungary, Meloni said the problems created by Italy’s aging population should not be resolved with immigrants working to support the social welfare system and keep the economy humming.

She said she would support a quota system for legal immigration “where necessary and (where it) can be fully integrated.”

[...] Italy has a repatriation agreement with Tunisia to send back Tunisians found ineligible for asylum, but not with most of the other countries whose migrants come ashore in Italy.

According to the Interior Ministry, nearly 126,000 migrants reached Italy by sea this year as of Thursday morning, nearly double the number as by the same time last year. On Thursday, another 180 migrants rescued at sea were brought to the port city of Salerno, south of Naples.

Why aren't those boats blocked? Why are Italians even providing water and food to them? Why are they being relocated to other parts of Italy? Why doesn't Italy get out of the EU, as it doesn't offer help to Italy which is a net contributor after all?

The only available solution is to pay a lot of money to some african country to host all those undesired migrants and be ready to be sued by a bunch of courts.

I think Denmark is already doing that.

The EU already has agreements with several African countries (and Turkey) to detain potential migrants.

Supporting the ousting of Gaddafi must be among the biggest self owns that the EU have ever inflicted on themselves in their entire existence, methinks.

Even taken on its own terms, the results of the invasion of Libya have been utterly hideous and disastrous: no central government with warlords instead controlling their own fiefdoms, an oil-rich nation which now has to IMPORT more than half of its oil because lawless bandits have taken over the nation's oil fields, more political prisoners than under Gadaffi himself... This is quite apart from the fact that the invasion was itself hypocritical and selective - Gadaffi was not much worse than most other MENA dictators that the West has supported or at least tolerated, and if the HDI results pre-2010 are any guide, was in some ways better.

You forgot the cherry on the proverbial shit pudding: The restoration of chattel slavery of Sub-Saharans. Incredible.

As you can see it's not enough and some countries, included the UK, wants to implement the transfer of migrants to other countries.

You can perform a brexit because of immigration (congrats for such a great move! ) but you can't transfer migrants to other country, upon payment.

    lol.

The government has attempted to deport asylum-seekers to Rwanda (sorry, but even taken on its own terms it is ridiculous - Rwanda is not an especially free or prosperous country, the sheer costs would be astronomical and the numbers that Rwanda have provisionally accepted are tiny anyway). Now, however, Labour have said that, were they to be elected, they will instigate agreements with EU countries (not just France either) to send back people illegally arriving by boat from them.

And how the hell hadn't they thought that before? Problem solved then, for sure!!
