    Thanks!

The Sweden & Denmark that we (my family) score is really Northern German ancestry. Or we could label it Germanic (perhaps, arguably). I have observed that SW Germans tend to score some S & D on Ancestry, whereas on 23andMe they would get mostly the French & German category, and no Scandinavian. If I'm not mistaken, people in the British Isles sometimes score some S & D, perhaps that is why you score it?

Thanks! She was tested in 2017, I think.

Communities are a little unpredictable, I get my mom's English one (which is accurate via paper trail, btw), but not her German one. Our ancestors are overwhelmingly German -- they came to the US in the mid-19th century. I do think that the further back the emigration, the less likely one is to get a European community. Although my Hungarian ancestors came in the 20th century and me and my sister get no communities related to that ancestry.

When did the bulk of your European ancestors emigrate, Nit?

Majority in the 20th century (Swedish and German). I just wonder why I don't get any communities despite the large percentage of Scandinavia I get on Ancestry. Whereas on 23andme I have 10 regions all accurately identified in Sweden.

    Why G Dawg, why?

I believe so that is probably an explanation, I have seen a lot of S & D on Ancestry British Isles results. I also have semi-recent Dutch ancestry from my mom (1/16) which may be read as Sweden and Denmark as well. Although the ethnicity inheritance predicts it comes from my dad which doesn't make much sense but ofc I don't think that tool is completely accurate.

    Also you're welcome
    =(^.^)=

Also I don't do classifications currently, sorry.

I have noticed that when people have a high number of ancestors from one small region of a country, Community assignment becomes even more likely. But sometimes, Nitti, we're just not the fortunate ones.

And in spite of it's weaknesses, usually some accurate locations do indeed so show up in 23andMe's RAL tool. Hopefully soon 23andMe will apply their new Genetic Groups tool to their German and Scandinavian regions too.

The only weird part is that the "1% Eastern European Roma" came from my Irish side since my Irish-American uncle (and cousins) also got 1%.

My results changed quite a bit-- 34 percentage points shifted, but same 8 groups.

This is the new update for me:
