Default Apart from Quebec and Louisiana, how come the French haven't migrated much compared to other Euros?

Beyond the major ex-French colonies of Quebec and Louisiana (and before independence, Algeria), in spite of France's vast Empire, they haven't really migrated or settled elsewhere very much when compared to many other European groups: British, Irish, Dutch, Germans, Poles, Czechs, Russians, Romanians, Albanians, Bulgarians, Greeks, Italians, Portuguese and Spaniards all seem to have more notable diasporas in many countries than do the French. It cannot be due to being exceptionally wealthy or politically stable, certainly when compared to the British, who seem to have settled overseas in far greater numbers than the French have, and not just in their ex-colonies either. (Compare and contrast the sizes of the British and French diasporas particularly in Southern Europe and the Arabian Peninsula).

It might be that during the past french people tend to emigrate in more various places. Like all our islands and ex colonies but also place like south africa, Argentine or chilie.
The consequences is french being a minority most of the time, we tend to mix and integrate more easily into the dominant ethnic group. Especially because there are catholics and protestant in France, when thoses people emigrate they tend to choose a country of destination with a similar religion/culture and with time assimilate totally with a group.
Like the hugenots in south africa who have been totally assimilate by the afrikaners, or the french in argentina with the local population.

I know that there are French communities in South Africa, Argentina and Chile, but they still seem smaller than quite a few other European ethnic groups. In Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Brazil and Venezuela there are far more Germans and especially of course Italians than French people.

No more so than the UK, Netherlands and Germany.

Their Empire was and to an extent still is pretty vast actually, covering large swathes of Africa, the Caribbean and parts of the Levant, SE Asia and Oceania.

France was nicknamed "Europe China" by people who study historical demography, before the drop in growth during the 19th century who is the cause for the lack of emigration. France mostly arable lands provided food for a massive population, and while every other western european nations experienced population growth with a surplus who moved to America/Oceania/whatever, it didn't happened here. So basically :
    Lack of motivations to move
No major population growth to push toward New World colonies.

Quebec and Acadia were populated by a few thousand settlers, in Carribeans it was also a few thousand people and for Algeria, there was the entrance of Italians, Maltese and Spaniards, alongside French people who gave it a strong population.

Here you go with the trends. If France followed UK curves, we would have probably sent ten millions people across the ocean.
