What is impressive how quickly the Israelis have admitted the failures they have had, and how they have immediately begun to develop new strategies to solve them. This draws powerful attention in contrast to Russia and its refusal to accept mistakes and insist for a long time on continuing with something evidently failed. It took at least a year until Russia began to show changes that clearly showed that they were adapting to the new reality.

I also find it hard to believe that the Israeli secret services have overlooked the preparation of something like this. Either they failed to appreciate the magnitude of the attack, which would be a point in favor of the Palestinians or those who advise them, or they have let it happen. Something also difficult to believe due to the enormous number of Israeli hostages that the Palestinians have obtained, which is something much more complicated to manage than the deaths and destruction.
