When I've said that I like Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman empires, next to Russian, I've meant that empires bring order, I'm happy that Ottomans were thrown away from Balkans, but they deserve Near East as their sandy lawn. I totally agree. And it's a shame: the Bosphorous should have been the natural border between the civilized world and the muslim world.

Im not fan of ottomans, but turks are real advanced kultur-nation compared to arabs. This middle east was always a war zone. If there are no jews, then they will kill each other all the time, just like during the crusades the Muslim World was also divided because of it. This region needs a dictator, or a sultan to make order. Thats pretty clear, thats why i like Assad or Kadhafi (RIP). I have read many Agatha Christie book, the Middle East was peaceful under the british rule.

The fall of Habsburg Empre was a tragedy for Central Europe. Unfortunatelly the Habsburgs or the hungarian elite followed a bad minority policy. But after the collapse these small nations killed each other to make this region unstable, the economy became much worse. This is what happened after the end of Soviet Union: wars, economic decay. There is no German Empire, French or British Empire anymore, and Europe has lost its world hegenomy.
