But the argument was that being cacausoid is what makes one white, so therefore Jews are white.

I think Oliver has a point: the Caucasoid race includes Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

Always has been. But some people are obviously motivated by sociopolitical urges and not anthropology at all.

White has a sociocultural meaning, but also an anthropological use and skeletal biologists always use the word white to refer to proto-Caucasoid or "woggy" less-refined types too.

Thing is, if there was such a major cut off between Europe and the Middle East, then Greeks would be more similar to Finns than to Turks and Levantines; similarly, Bulgarians and Romanians would be more similar to Finns than to Turks and Kavkazians. But anyone who isn't blinded by ideology knows that is not the case.

I'm very sure this is true. People would naturally get very pressed if a random middle eastern race that is not their own was called non-white, a race which they seem to want to prove looks nordic(while also wanting to prove south Germans either look Med or "Hunnish") despite having no personal vested interest in the matter.
