    Default Borreby

I'm going to start a thread about Borreby subrace, cause i've always been fascinated by its look and history, though i have some doubts.
Why are is Borreby considered one of the nordic subraces, and not simply a variant of the alpinid race?? Does it have more features in common with the nordics or with the alpinids? I'd like you to post some pics of modern Borrebys, if it's possible.
I think the following icelandic girl is a good exemple of pred. Borreby (with other influences though):

That girl looks more Balto-Borreby which is a common find in many areas of Scandinavia. Borrebys are considered a part of the Nordish race which only includes Nordid types but does not necessarily require being Nordid. They tend to share some things in Common with Alpinoids but this is probably more to do with coincidence then actual interactions.

A Borreby can be said to be an Alpinized Faelid as Mordid would put it. A lot of Borrebys have Nordid/Norid influences or admixture at times as well. The Borreby is basically of Late Mesolithic or Upper Paleolithic stock deriving from a similar pedigree as Brunns and Faelids.

Actually they have dwelt in such close proximity with the Faelid race that it is hard to differentiate the two at time whether it be quite naturally or because of a fusion between the two. There is also a stock of Borrebys that can be found in areas of the Balkans. Here are some illustrations of the Borreby type.

Very interesting, thank you. I was convincted that Borrebys were a result of a miscelation of alpinids with nordic subraces (like sub-nordids), and it's interesting to know that it's -maybe- just a coincidence.
But i think the general roundness of their faces and heads is very close to alpinids' one, isn't it?? Even if i think Borrebys are in general more robust than alpinids. So, what's the main difference between Borrebys and Alpinids?? I'd say height, pronounced chin, broader face...am i right?? And do Borrebys have strong cheekbones or not??

Not necessarily, the Alpinoid race is sort of a Central-Central European phenomenon. Usually understood as the peasant stock the Alpinoid type tends to have a somewhat similar build to Borrebys. They are pyknomorphic and they are brachycephalic cranio-facially.

They just tend to lack the robustness and height of Borrebys which is considerably greater. Alpinoids do have receding chins and rather minor jaws in terms of pronounciation relative to Borrebys who have bigger chins and rather squarish jaws at times. There are different types of Borrebys and there is also a quite large gender gap when it comes to the Borreby type.

A few Borrebys are more Alpinoid like while some look more Cro-Magnon like. Borrebys also have a high vault of a,broader mouth area, and more pronounced cheekbones then Alpinoids. Here are a few examples of Alpinoids and you can compare with the Borrebys I listed above.

Yes they do have a little sharper features then Borrebys. They also have longer faces and tend to not have as high of a forehead as Borrebys. They are also mesomorphic and mesocephalic opposed to Borrebys who are pyknomorphic and brachycephalic.

I'd say Faelids and Borrebys don't look that similar...

The main difference i can notice between the two is the general "strenght" of Borreby type (jaw, chin, cheekbones), and also the pigmentation is very different. I think alpinoids have more "soft" traits, feminine i'd say, while Borrebys are more robust in all senses.
