Solving the Mystery of a 35,000-Year-Old Statue

Archeologists have discovered previously unknown fragments of a figurine known as the "Lion Man," and are piecing it back together. Could the 35,000-year-old statue actually represent a female shaman? Scientists hope to resolve a decades-long debate.

You know, micro, I wish you'd paste a little MORE of the articles you link to! The most interesting thing here is not the gender nonsense, but the fact that more PIECES have been found!

(I hate clicking too many links)

This was a very important episode in human evolution.

The Cro-magnon life, art, should be discussed more.

Whoever carved the Löwenmensch also was behind the cave paintings at Chauvet 32,000 years ago

How can painting skills of such primitive man match modern human abilties?

Does art and linguage trigger similar cerebral activity? So did the cromagnon have advanced language? emotions?

i actually don't believe in the "official stand" regarding evolution, all these discoveries make me even more convinced

we don't know even 10% of our history and earth. My personal opinion is that cro magnon and the neanderthals were different races, just like today we have black people, white people and so on.But that's a bit off topic

What on Earth are you two on about? It's widely known that men in the upper palaeolithic were as good as identical to us now in mental capabilities. 40,000 years is a day in evolutionary terms.

Well, life was a bit rough, you know, hunting and cold....

I really wonder when did the subtle hand eye coordination develop.

    What was their language?

This Venus figurine 35000-40000 BP looks pretty rough in comparison to the almost realistice skillful cave paintings.

They believed 10 years ago that the neaderthals were primitive species, now we know they probably had evolved language, cooked meat and different stuff from the nature, taste for music, art, and even religious belief..

and what about those fossils from 800 thousand years ago of a boy in Spain, his face looks almost identical to our face? is 800 000 only a few weeks then?

i only say we dont know anything about our background yet, mosty of the stuff that were said 10 years ago are proven to be wrong, what will happen in an other 10-50 years??
