    Indeed. And, it's a shame that the paleolithic Europeans didn't paint realistic impressions of themeslves in the caves. Their portrayals of animals are amazing so it makes me think that they certainly could've painted themselves pretty well too. There are a few representations that I've seen before--but not many and those that survive are very stylistic...

    how can we know they didnt? i think less than 1% is still not destroyed,and out of that we have found very few

    Ten years ago... 2011 - 10 = 2001... I'd just graduated from an English university then, and while reading for my anthropology degree I distinctly remember hearing all sorts of interesting ideas about the mental powers of the Neanderthals. HOWEVER, they were still using a set of tools that had altered very little in about 100,000 years. So, we can have some degree of 'humanity' in them, but not the FULL package, which includes innovation and development of more specialised tool kits.

    You obviously have a really good internet connection. Spare a thought for those of us living in rural areas, whose coverage and reception are less than ideal.
