It's totally ridiculous. Russia and Finland didn't have any recent territorial or other military or diplomatic disputes. You're now making an enemy on your doorstep -- a very powerful enemy that has the capability to destroy you completely. Utter foolishness, you guys are going to pay a heavy price. Because WW3 is coming, and you didn't have to get involved. Now you will be involved for sure. Good luck!

If WW III will start, Finland will not (read: can not) stay outside, no matter if Finland will be neutral or part of NATO. Yes, WW III will touch Finns (just like WW II). Next world war will even touch Sweden (which was able to avoid WW I and WW II). Again, no matter will Sweden be neutral country, or NATO country.

Russians's would attack neutral Finland (without any compunction) if Russians would see that helping them to get better position against NATO (before the WW III). Now as Finland is a member of NATO and has DCA with USA and security agreement with UK ... Russians will think a bit before doing the same move (again before WW III).

Good for you, but unfortunately you're forcing this upon many people who would prefer to live peacefully and build futures for their children in their country.

Tell this to Putin is him who is starting wars and threatening others with invasion, no Finland, Sweden , Norway, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania or Latvia.

They have all the right to sign what they want, and they have the right to defend themselves with the help of USA in the same way that Belorrussia can do the same with Russia.

It is like asking the United Kingdom just before and at the beginning of the Second World War not to ask the USA for support when Nazi Germany was thinking about an invasion of the islands. "If you prepare to fight in your defense you are provoking them to attack you", the Latin maxim is still valid "Si vis pacem, para bellum"

Can be, but every country's responsibility is to (at least) try maxima its security. Whatever that means.

However one chooses to think of what the next world war may look like, it's still better to have more countries on our side.
This way it's more likely we're gonna be the side that suffers less, since being stronger typically means taking less damage than the losing side.
And at least Finland and Sweden have rather realistic approach when it comes to the possible war, which cannot be said about many other European countries, who just thinks that a war will never reach them.

The US is already obligated to defend most Scandinavian countries since they are members of NATO;
Finland recently ended 80 years of neutrality to join NATO.
Sweden is not in NATO yet but relations are close and it may well join NATO in the future.

The Defence Cooperation Agreements deepen ties by allowing US equipment/soldiers at (all?) Scandinavian bases.
So effectively the US has more bases at its disposal.

I am afraid that the US will try to provoke war against Russia from Scandinavian territory.

This only escalates the situation and puts Scandinavian people in even greater danger.

But why it has to be territorial claims? Or if one has not those all would be automatically fine? Nope, it is not so. You know what sphere of interest means? Or how that will influence those countries which would be apart of that? War can be a better option...
