it depends - in terms of health, my dad had me at 34, he is now almost 71 and in better health shape than me! (he is countryside man, worker, now in pension but still has to maintain the house, the small land...), - while in terms of wealth, I didn't take anything from my parents, we have been poor throughout the childhood etc, so it was never the idea of getting something material to us, just education, which unfortunately me and my bro didn't take up either, but in the end we made it, I mean to have a roof above the head, each got to have stable and good paying jobs (eventually, after minimum wage start), paying higher than average after the age of 30, without superior schooling, and with personal efforts (I was going to work even when I was drinking until 4am.. never took work as a joke, because I depended entirely on it for rent money, now for the mortgage). so it depends. I am a pretty old dad myself, had the first kid at 30 and the second at 34 (I'm 37)

It's somewhat similar to me. My father was 27 years old when I was born. The difference is that mom and dad’s health is no longer stellar, although they are not yet 70.
The inheritance is also small - a share in an apartment in Sevastopol. But there was a normal upbringing by a father who is an officer, and a fairly large and friendly group of relatives in several cities of Russia. Since I am a former programmer, it is clear that I could not have any kind of cronyism. But they still helped me a LOT in other fields. I was young, poor and passionate, and left for Moscow immediately after finishing school. I studied at the university for free, majoring in IT. I started earning more or less ok money at the age of 22, but ended up in the army for 2 years. Then I got married, and everything went quite smoothly and stable. A big city is a terrible force, it sucks out passion. As soon as you arrive, you are strong, and then you become softer. I also took my work seriously until recently; if I was burned with some idea, I could sleep 2 hours a day. Now there is no longer a need for such self-flagellation; we need to take care of our health. My brother also has his own bread and butter, but he is not connected with IT and left for Moscow 3 years after me.
So we can safely say that we did not let our parents down. They gave us everything they could and we thank them for that.
My only son was born when I was already 32; it had never worked out earlier for different reasons. Honestly, I didn’t want children at all (at that time), it happened under pressure from relatives. My brother and his girlfriend don't want children at all.
My parents once told me that if they lived in our time, they would never think about any children. I understand them perfectly.

I don't get this with education.

I was mistaken - I meant upbringing, not education. If the father is too old, he may simply not have time to transfer it.
