Yes many Afrikaners have French (Calvinist) ancestry and surnames, and French first names are not uncommon either.
My household has all common French first names.

Yes she is reclusive, while you can bump into other members of the family relatively easily like even Caroline, Stéphanie, etc... they are normal people. Ive only seen Charlene once in a lift, besides the public set up appearances. Im not really following all the gossips but her health problems are part of it.
