I don't live in anything like South Africa but I carry pepper spray (parts of America are lame when it comes to gun laws) because I was thinking recently altercations (muggings, assaults, etc.) are rarely one-on-one and criminals are often armed with a weapon. So what does it matter if I can grapple someone to the ground and control the dude if he has a knife? I can be potentially stabbed, or if he has accomplices my entire attention is on just that dude, while the others can jump me and help out their buddy. I can leg kick an attacker but if they're armed with a knife they can just slash at my legs and if they have accomplices they can rush me.
So I said to myself I'll just buy pepper spray since it's a legal option for me.
That's wild.Yes we have to be very cautious, even in public in broad daylight we might suddenly be surrounded by blacks with knives.
Now there are robberies at traffic lights in broad daylight
My acquaintance has lived in the US for years and never had a problem but having grown up and lived in South Africa it has given him PTSD it seems.
