    Interesting findings:

    - Asian people are heavily represented among both the lower status occupations (shopkeepers and factory workers in particular come to mind) AND higher status occupations (doctors, lawyers and IT workers in particular come to mind).

    - Contrarily, White Britons are most strongly represented among skilled manual workers (plumbers, carpenters, mechanics, electricians etc.), as well as administrative and secretarial occupations, but have low representation among the bottom two occupational groups. Conversely, however, they are also under-represented among those in professional occupations, mainly due to the high representation of Asians among them (see above).

    - White Other, which principally means Eastern Europeans, are most strongly represented among the bottom two occupational groups, as are the Other ethnic group - MENAs, Pacific Islanders, Latin Americans and some others.

    - White Irish and, perhaps more surprisingly, mixed-race people are skewed more towards the upper end of the spectrum.

    - Black people are more well-dispersed throughout the spectrum than might be expected, with their numbers highest among caring, leisure and other service occupations and lowest among skilled manual occupations.

I believe the Asian people stratification should be refined intergenerationally
    - FOBs are overrepresented - among Asians - in the lower classes (shopkeepers, ethnic restaurants, factory workers)
    - Their children are pursuing higher educations and join the upper classes (IT, engineers, doctors, business/finance, ...)

(this is just intuitive feeling, should be cross-checked with actual data)

Yes and no. The NHS recruits absolutely HUGE numbers of people from India and to a lesser extent China, Malaysia and the Philippines. The IT sector also recruits quite a few people directly from India in particular. However, it is true that if you see an Indian-looking doctor, he/she is just as likely to be British-born as foreign-born. (East Asians are another matter).

Well this thread is about England and Wales. And I have said before that non whites, especially Black people, tend to be more uniformly poor or working class in some other European countries like France, Belgium and Sweden than in Britain.

N.B. Though the dynamic is rather different in London from the rest of the country, because there fewer than a quarter of manual and menial jobs and fewer than half of PMT jobs are done by White Britons.

Also what they call "Asians", there are likely some marked differences between East Asians and central/south Asians.
