I assume you are comparing (Southern US vs England) vs (Croatia vs Poland), as you said before? I have put this under spoilers as there are many images.

The Southeastern US, which as far as I am aware is what Americans use when they talk about 'the South' is predominately a Cfa or humid subtropical climate:

Whilst some of Texas enters semi-arid BSk and BSh climates:
> BSk: B = Dry S = Semi-Arid or steppe k = cold
> BSh: B = Dry S = Semi-Arid or steppe h = hot

I specifically mean Dalmatia, which is typical Mediterranean region and covered with karst, unlike much of southern Europe, hence is full of stone and general infertile in soil (why is why there are no sand beaches that are natural). It's also hilly and mountains follow the shore, with large amount of island near by (Dalmatian type of shore). Islands are long time flooded peaks of dinaric alps.

Isles are also humid and warm for their very northern position in Europe. Humid suptropical climate that is main in the south is closer to Oceanian than is Mediterranean to the continental.

There is another huge difference - green and grass. South has lot of it, England too while Dalmatia unlike Poland is barren.

Another similaritiy connecting US south is England is the fact it is low laying for the most part (except Appalachia), vast and spacious, with low shorelines with sand beaches and no islands (only Scotland differs to this considerably).

Dalmatia has lack of flat regions and is generally claustophobic closed between hills everyhwere.

I don't need to mention another giant win for my argument - soil fertility.
US south was famous for agriculture and England isn't infertile either. Poland is much more fertile than Dalmatia, difference is huge.
In UK only Scotland is known for being rather infertile in the highlands.
