The Lebanese team confirm a thought I've had: the Lebanese whiteness is totally overrated. And even in the Syrian squad I only see two that could pass in Southern Europe. Iranians are way closer to a European look.

I think culture has played a massive part in this, for instance liberal levantines particularly Christians are culturally have Alot in common with southern European Mediterraneans. Also, and I genuinely do not want to cause a shitstorm, but, the affinity of southern Europeans to west Asians autosmally has forced Europeans to convince themselves that their eastern Mediterraneans neighbours aren't too different to them.

Btw I disagree, I think there's more than 2 that could pass in southern Europe.

I would say all Asian and North African groups with the exception of a few tribal groups in North Africa, parts of the mountainous regions of Afghanistan and the Pamirs and other isolated groups in parts of Iran and the levant are generally darker than all Europeans including Portuguese etc. even among darker Iberians they have a more vasulcar rosy skin tone generally that shows intermixture with whiteness.
