I notice the difference on buses and trains even compared to ten and especially twenty years ago. In the not-so-distant past, people (even strangers) would talk to each other a lot more, whereas now everyone is so ensconced in their own gadgets. (I can be as guilty of this as anyone, but at least I am self-aware enough to admit it).

One of the ironies here in Britain is how home ownership has declined decade-by-decade (each Census says as much). This is despite the fact that the Tories' Right To Buy policy introduced in the 1980s, with its mass selling-off of council houses, was supposed to stimulate/encourage greater levels of home ownership. It seems that the biggest winners since have been not ordinary citizens but greedy landlords.

I am not the brightest, but gen Z appears to be even worse. And what makes you assume that? At least I know the real causes of the American "Civil War".
