What do you think of the new Sukhoi Superjet 100, made with all Russian parts?

Previous versions apparently relied on foreign components.

(For those who do not know, the Superjet is the Russian Airbus)

What do you think about Russian commercial aircraft in general, from today and from the Soviet era?

Russia is following an import substitution policy,
similar to Japan, Korea, Asia post-WW2, and the US in the early 1800s and between the Civil War and WW2.
This is usually successful and beneficial for the nation.
Russia certainly has the human intelligence, resources, and capabilities to do so.
The economy and the rouble have been doing very well. Good luck!

    On a lighter note

In lots of spheres we needed a punch in the ass to start it finally, because post USSR colonial elites literally acted like "we will buy everything needed". It became less after 2008-2010, but the 2022 one is a real firestarter. And it's not about some chains of coffee shops and other minor stuff, but about spheres which bring billions to the country. But still, it's funny for me when some foreigners speak something about Russia like we're in 1993, like something default.

    - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko opened a new winter complex of the Vostok station in Antarctica via videoconference. The total area of the complex is more than 3,000 sq. m. The station will house scientific laboratories, residential and public premises, energy centers and technical units for a water purification and storage system. The complex will allow to accommodate 35 seasonal specialists at a time, as well as up to 15 people during the wintering period.

    - The Lena River Shipping Company plans to prepare 306 units of the fleet for the upcoming navigation. Icebreaking and freezing works are currently underway in six branches of the shipping company. It is necessary to select more than 7 thousand cubic meters of ice so that workers have access to the hulls and steering complexes of the vessels under repair.

    - Starting from February 1, the Murmansk Region will resume accepting applications for the "Your Home in the Arctic" program. Northerners will be able to receive from 1 to 1.5 million rubles for the purchase of a ready-made house, a house kit or construction from scratch. 500 million rubles have been allocated for the implementation of the program this year. An important change has been made to the program: restrictions on the availability of real estate have been lifted for participants of the SVO and veterans of military operations.

    - This year, it is planned to open two more trade and logistics centers (TLCs) in Momsky and Verkhoyansky districts in the Arctic regions of Yakutia. To date, 8 such facilities are already operating. The main task of TLC is to restrain prices for socially important food products in the Arctic.

    - TSAGI specialists have successfully completed a cycle of aerodynamic tests of the SJ-100 aircraft with Russian PD-8 engines, which should replace the French SaM146 engines. The research was carried out both at takeoff and landing modes and in a wide range of cruising Mach numbers.

    - Rosenergoatom has replaced previously imported software for 95% of jobs. In 2023, together with technological partners, three fully domestic trusted software and hardware complexes were developed and implemented.

"The thread brought directly from the cold war"

You can post 100 triumphalist news stories a day about how well everything is going (they could even all be true), and despite everything, if just one fundamental thing fails (and you are not even able to determine what it is), absolutely none of them will have any value.

Congratulations Russia, you have a future full of industrial successes that will lead you to great material progress!

Come on Russia, repeat history to see if doing the same thing the result is different! After all, this current world is different from the one left behind, right?
