Default Vlach language in schools in Eastern Serbia

For Vlach children of course. That they don't forget or to learn language of their ancestors.

An example from village Kobišnica near Negotin.

Here finally some years ago the idiotic practice when EVERYONE had to learn regional language is stopped. Somewhere in Tatarstan, Russians, Mordvins, Chuvashs and others had to learn Tatar language in school, just like somewhere in Chuvashia, Tatars, Russians, Mordvins and others had to learn local language. It was heavily sabotaged, people didn't want to learn it. Now only Russian language is compulsory nationwide and every minority may study own language as optional if they wish, since the stupid law disappeared, lots of people of minorities decided not to study own language, but Russian only.

Tatars, Chuvash and Mordovins are more bilingual or only Russians speakers?

Bilingual, but the number decreases in favor of Russian language. Within the framework of natural competition Russian language and Russian culture (no matter, high culture or mass culture) will always win and will be voluntary preferred by majority of people. It was the opposite perversion in Ukraine when Ukrainian language was artificially enforced as the only one in regions where people think and speak Russian. The conclusion is, if you want people to speak Russian, you don't need to force them into it, just don't annoy them and let them live like they do, they will prefer Russian culture, show business, music, movies, vloggers and mass media anyway. Even now, during the war, Russian music and lots of Russian moves are in top of Ukrainian count in Music and Video services which makes lots of "Concious Ukrainians" butthurt.

Younger generations of Serbian Vlachs mostly don't know Vlach language, and if they know they don't use that language in everyday communication. Vlachs of Eastern Serbia are serbified or semi serbified in vast majority. They carry Serbian names and surnames since 19th century when they are integrated in Serbian society. They belong to Serbian Orthodox Church.

It's ok, for me it's stupid when someone artificially maintain something what people don't need themselves. Vlach culture and language will disappear in the region as a part of natural process. Soviets were obsessed with maintaining the micro nations as some holy idols and converting Russians into "minorities" at the same time. Now you have some % of Russian people with identity crisis in ex-Soviet republics and big part of those who want to vomit of the local "precious language and culture".

Vlachs of Eastern Serbia were cutt off from Romanian core, and already integrated in Serbian society in the mid of 19th century when the Romanian national idea began to be affirmed (that bypassed them). Their serbification was natural process in long period. Similar happened with Arvanites in Greece which were cutt of from Albanian core. Because of that, their Orthodox religion and integration in Greek state/society they became Greeks.

Minority language study should be optional, but available.
Forcing minority language study is idiotic, but so is removing this option.

If you don't allow to complete the studies in any native language (including bachelors degree level) you create a permanent language-based underclass.
Serbia does a good job here, one that helps all citizens, regardless of their native language, to be productive.

Same here, native language study, native media, books, theaters, libraries, bilingual signs on streets etc are available for everyone. Just not everyone needs it naturally.
