Interestingly, all my grandparents had gray eyes, and my parents were already green. My eyes are swamp green. In general, green is not uncommon among Russians

Blue eyes seem to be more common than green ones among Northern Europeans, though I think green eyes are more common in West Asia. As you said, even if the percentages you used were real the value you calculated wouldn't be the exact number which would actually be lower considering green eyes and red hair aren't independent events: the British Isles for example are a place where both are found in some of their highest frequences, if not the highest.

My father's Mother had dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. I don't have any color photographs of my paternal grandfather's face so I don't know what his coloring was. My paternal grandfather's father was a naturalized US citizen from Czechoslovakia and on the application it says gray eyes.
On what basis or reasoning did the doctor categorize your eyes as blue? Did they simply observe and declare the color, or did they determine the blue classification through a series of examinations?

I don't think people even know the actual definition of hazel, for instance I've seen people with blatant light colored eyes like green/blue classify their own eyes as hazel, I've also seen some people with light pure brown eyes classify their eyes as hazel.

He simply looked at me and put "blue". There were no series of examinations. The outer rim is blue.
    Spoiler!

Well, it seems of no importance, then. I thought maybe there was a specific medical reason to categorize them since blue eyes have different qualities and tendencies apart from just color. For example, people with blue or green eyes have a greater risk of melanoma of the eye.

Hazel eyes basically have a colored outer circle and a brown inner circle, and the color of the outer circle greatly varies. Hazel eyes also look different under light and darkness. That's why they are confusing.

I would expect hazel eyes to be varied, for instance imo, light hazel eyes ( majority green with brown around the iris) can be classified as greenish eyes, whereas dark hazel ( majority brown with tints of green) is brown eyes but mixed. It gets confusing when there is a evenly distributed amount of green and brown lol.

There are blue hazel eyes not just green. Still, majority of hazel eyes are probably greenish.

Yes its very rare. It was, in a country like Norway which is one of the highest % light eyes countries. It was basically the same experience with my native country, people were locking on my eyes, especially women.

Mixed and hazel eyes arent green eyes.
