Classify and pass these South Africans

Phenotype, plus who's the "Boer," "Greek," "Portuguese," and/or "Engelsman" (and everyone in between!)?



Formula One racing driver Tony Maggs (born Anthony Francis O'Connell Maggs), raced in F1 from 1961 to 1965. Capable driver.










Accordionist Nico Carstens. He was fairly popular in the South African music scene, particularly in boeremusiek circles. Great musician.










Singer Virginia Lee (Born Virginia de Jager). Fairly popular South African pop singer from the 60s and 70s (?). Great voice.










Soprano Doris Brasch. Opera singer that was fairly popular in the 50s and 60s but later branched off to mostly children's songs and albums. Excellent voice (imo).

Tenor Ge Korsten. Popular in his field (more well known than Brasch) and later became a relatively well-known actor in a soap opera in the early 90s. Excellent voice (imo, not versed in opera even though I like a lot of theatrical Afrikaans music).










Pop singer Rina Hugo. Famous in the 70s, 80s, 90s and still relatively popular today I believe. Can't say I listen to her, but from the one song I KNOW, she's talented at least.

A woman scanning a magazine and her flight captain helping there for whatever reason taken from a 1960 SAA promotional image. The captain looks quite seasoned and the woman looks friendly enough.

Captain Gys Louw's last flight to Australia before his DC-7B is retired in favour of jets. Looks quite seasoned, and a bit sad for the occasion.




A nice-looking dark-haired passenger and the plane's also nice-looking hostess. I don't mind the company of both!




Musician Fred Wooldridge. Known in the 60s for some popular at the time boeremusiek tunes. Combined black South African street music known as the "kwela" with traditional Afrikaans instrumental music (aka boeremusiek). "Pennieflute Kwela" is a rather catchy tune.

In general, they do not look American to me. In general, they would look strange or oddly French to me.

A lot of Afrikaners (and by extension, other South African European-descended people) have French Huguenot ancestry, which is why they may appear French-looking. Many Afrikaners have distant SSA ancestry (and by extension.....) and the different historical situation in Southern Africa will account for why they appear "not-American looking" imo.

I was wondering why, for a person with the surname "Maggs," and "O'Connell," he didn't look like either! He didn't even look Dutch or French either...

This would imply that he had Afrikaner ancestry, certainly?
