You didn't address the fact that this was indeed a massacre. Yeltsin wasn't as bad as Putin or Stalin, but he acted like a Soviet dictator in this case.

The article linked to below said that "The last rebel fighters had left the village two days earlier under pressure from civilians who feared Russian reprisals if the guerrillas were allowed to remain, witnesses said."
