That's partly it. But also Arabs are considered to be (relatively) White and Caucasoid in Latin America themselves - at least compared to Amerindians, Blacks and those heavily admixed with them. Whereas Arabs in Europe are mostly darker than even the swarthiest Southern Europeans.

Why would "not single" men need them anyways? As you say they married them because they needed them even though they were slaves. They could import women from their homelands but apparently marrying slave women was acceptable because it was new world and phenotypical contrast wasnt a great issue.
