Where would you rather live: Pacific Islands or Russia?

Looking at the UNHDI, a disproportionate number of the least developed countries outside of Africa are in the Pacific Islands. Nevertheless, they are for the most part relatively peaceful and benign, and not just compared to the bulk of Africa either. (Except for PNG, which has all sorts of tribal wars and violence).

Conversely, Russia is a relatively wealthy and powerful nation, but it has quite high rates of crime, terrorism and social decay. (I do not care what the Putin lovers claim - the objective evidence is that its rates of divorce, abortion and alcoholism are as bad if not worse than in much of the West).

N.B. Of course, another factor to consider is climate: due you generally prefer hot or cold?

European part of Russia where 80% of populace and majority of ethnic Russians live, has relatively low crime rate and cities here are quite safe in comparison with majority of Western European megacities. Terrorism? I don't remember any acts of terrorism for years, but if we count Ukrainian drone attacks and their assasination attempts of Russian activists, yes, that's it.

As for Russia, I'd prefer Southern Russia, for sure, I'm actually living there.

Russian murder rates are somewhat above European averages, even if hardly comparable to Latin American and Southern African countries. Terrorism form the North Caucasus in particular certainly used to be a problem.

Average Russian murder rate is made by 1-2 regions, one of them is an ethnic region Tuva with some Brazilian crime rate.
