Women are horrible at stand up comedy, that is true. But this is my oddball take- they are actually better in sit coms. When I watch a sit com, I rarely laugh at the male character but the women tend to be funnier and have better comedic timing. The only comedy actor that makes me really laugh was John Ritter.

I suspect a major factor is that sitcoms are supposed represent real life drama in action and repetitive humor exhibited with women may seem more realistic. Women in real life are more likely to resort to humor to manage conflicts while males may often prefer direct confrontation and brute force. That may be why female humor in sitcoms appears less artificial and more palatable for you.

Funny story about Jon Leibowitz/Stewart:
From January 2020 to summer 2021, the official story was that the Chinese Flu/Covid came from a wet market in Wuhan,
supposedly due to the exotic and unhygienic eating habits of the Chinese.
The media and late-night TV, including Colbert, repeated this racist? message ad nauseam.
Anyone who noticed the adjacent presence of the Wuhan Lab and Chinese bioweapons program was immediately called a "conspiracy theorist" and abused accordingly by the narrow-minded media.
For 18 months, Colbert bullied and abused anyone who dared to mention the lab, or disagree with the official wet market narrative,
even though the Trump admin. and Senator Tom Cotton mentioned the Wuhan Lab in January 2020.
Then by the summer of 2021,
it became obvious that the lab leak was the source of the virus, not the wet market.
Jon Stewart was dragged out of retirement, onto Colbert's show,
where he made an obscene joke about the pangolin and laughed with Colbert, "Of course it was the scientists!" Duh!
So the conspiracy theorists turned out to be right all along, as usual!
And 18 months of pushing the wet market origin theory and abusing dissenters was forgotten.
The narrative was conveniently switched and the wet market theory was memory-holed.
Really, these 'mainstream' comedians are a CIA psyop and Pfizer commercial,
an increasingly ineffective one, because fewer and fewer people watch them anymore.
(and conspiracy theories are just spoiler alerts)

I do agree that on average men are more funny than women, although I have met genuinely funny women although fairly rare.
=(^.^)=
Also I don't do classifications currently, sorry.

Women's public humor has a very limited range of topics, at least here. Rich men, money, sex, family, children, and that's all. Nothing beyond this bounds and nothing abstract at all. Women know how to joke well only in person or in a small group of different-sex (important!) friends, imho.
Being funny is not in the interests of all-female groups.

Lack of humor is not a very serious lack.
Being manipulative, perfidious, playing games and testing, is far worse.

I said that it was a bioweapon from Jump Street. My only real question was "was its release accidental or intentional?". People gave me the raised eyebrow when I mentioned it. Their eyebrows are lower these days, but Colbert's is still at the top of his forehead because he's a propagandist in the guise of a comedian.

This is a trap. Nobody is ready yet to say women are as funny as men, but come back next year and everything is possible at the current rate.
There are funny women to be fair, in some unconventional ways. They would just wouldn't make a living out of it. I do agree that generally in tv shows they can be funny but they are just learning a script. Who s funny is the guy behind writing it.
