So, recently in Greece, there was a big discussion that was held about "the human rights" that homosexuals and transgender people have in the country, and all media, and by that I mean, ALL media, in a supposedly socially conservative country, were releasing up to dozens of articles per day, both about the law that was voted in eventually (and unfortunately) and about the whole societal aspect.
But here's the thing: almost everyone in Greece still thinks, and indeed has, the cost of living as their highest priority. Simply enough, because despite whatever wage increases there have been and are impending, the prices in all goods and services has skyrocketed. Especially in food and rent, aka the two things that humans need to live an adequately good life. But this is barely even mentioned in the media after all. Especially compared to the fuzz created about muh gayz, lesbos and queers.
The question therefore is: why would and should you make an entire society care about something that doesn't affect them, while something else that does affect all of society isn't addressed?
