Netherlands has a decent amount of freckled types and even Brunn influence though, France is not that pale even in the north where the populace as you saw in that thread I posted look quite central European, the Netherlands is definitely paler.

Hmm this thread has me thinking about some things. I guess I shouldn't have been so quick to judge if my own dad was dark enough that people thought he was Mexican yet my entire family is mostly blondies all from the same three villages. It can happen in Norway too lol.

Its not about skin color but facial features, your father does look Mexican but not mestizo.

That map has obvious inaccuracies i.e Netherlands has much less type 1 than France, UK only has a little more type 1 than France and Iceland has even less type 1 than the Netherlands.

The subjects were Caucasian, not necessarily of the ethnic majority. For a large country like France the data does not represent all regions. The goal of the Bataille et al study was to investigate the relationship between subbed use and cutaneous melanoma, not to determine national Fitzpatrick type distributions precisely.

The data can still be interpreted in broad strokes.

They would exclude the obvious non whites, MENA and Africans, but it's very possible and likely they didn't exlude the other Europeans, mainly Italians and Spanish.
