Healthcare in the US is just fine. Universal healthcare isn't all it's cracked up to be, for example it sucks ass in the Czech Republic. My mom couldn't even get an appointment to refill a medicine prescription for 6 months there and all it took was making an online appointment when she got to the US lol.
That being said, it probably has a lot to do with sedentary lifestyles and poor food quality. Not that there isn't plenty of quality food available, I live here and almost exclusively eat home-made food, but a lot of people fall into habits of convenience, which are usually less healthy options.
