Il n'y a pas assez d'échantillons de sorte que mon pčre picard se retrouve plus proches d'Anglais que de Français alors qu'il est génétiquement plus proche de Français du Nord et Centre que d'Anglais.

The difference from Aoste is also much more of and West-East than North-South difference.
French_Auvergne and French_Bigorre are fairly close to French_Provence for Portuguese or Spanish_Extremadura, so unless you think a difference of 0.025 is significant in G25, then yes, they are significantly closer to French_Provence than to other french regions.

There is no historical reason for this to happen. I believe this happens because of the basques and their position in PCA plots. They are dislocated to the west and the spanish regions closer to basques will be further from north italians than the ones with fewer basque influence, which includes Portugal. Even more considering Portugal has been politically separate since the 12th century and had no basque internal migrations.

I mean, basques are so far west that in my own distances in G25 i appear closer to belgians than to some basques, which is absurd really:

Mentally it is difficult to know, I don't know enough Italians, in fact I don't know any Italians, in the sense that we frequently meet each other. In reality, the contact with foreigners is virtual, who is in daily contact with foreigners from other European countries, if everyone lives in his country in his circle composed of natives, it is almost easier to see daily foreigners from anywhere in the world than from other European countries.

According to oral family tradition E-FT155550 comes from a deserter of Napoleon's troops (1808-1813) who stayed in Spain and changed his surname.

It's not really a calculator but a portion of my distances to all populations. You can get it here, it's one of the links (Global25 pop averages modern scaled):

Most of the Spanish populations are closer to French than Italians (I'm not considering Provence):

    Distance to: Spanish_Castilla_La_Mancha
    0.02460827 French_Bigorre
    0.02554878 French_South
    0.02811307 French_Bearn
    0.02864624 French_Chalosse

    0.03113622 Italian_Bergamo
    0.03135431 Italian_Aosta_Valley
    0.03205737 French_Occitanie

With the obvious exception of the Balearics and two other weird ones:

    Distance to: Spanish_Murcia
    0.03110604 Italian_Trentino_Alto_Adige
    0.03176709 French_Bigorre
