Default Why are some nationalities more likely to "ghettoize" than others?

I have noticed in London that one of the main differences between western and eastern Europeans is that the latter are more likely to form visible communities with their own shops, cafes and restaurants. While there are areas of French or Spanish people there are not highly concentrated numbers of French or Spanish shops in any area, this is even more the case for Germany where you really see zero German influence which is odd in a city as large as London.

    (1) Economics and poverty. (2) A desire to reproduce (albeit in an often ersatz manner) the customs, culture and language of home, which some groups might have more than others.

1 is understandable but as for 2 why would that be more the case in some nationalities?

Because they are tribal and clannish.

Because the cultural and linguistic differences may be stronger among some immigrants than others? Note how there is not one ward even in London which is outright majority Black, but there are plenty throughout the country that are outright majority South Asian. And re (1), while poverty can lead to ghettoisation and lack of integration, conversely so can elitism. Examples include the British in Argentina and Southern Africa and latterly Westerners in general in the Arabian Peninsula.

Oddly enough Brits abroad seem more segregated than say the French or even the Spanish, Black people are not as clannish as south Asians though some areas and schools can be dominated by some black ethnicities like Nigerians.

Neo-imperial mentality (although the other two groups you mentioned can have it sometimes too).

Some parts of Inner London, as well as the occasional area of Birmingham, Manchester and even Bristol can be as high as 40-45% Black. Still, you won't find anything as extreme as Southall, Wembley, Ilford, Belgrave and Evington in Leicester, Sparkhill and Small Heath in Birmingham, Manningham in Bradford etc.

I would say though that British are less likely to bring loads of their family over to Spain etc, I think they cluster more because they don't speak the local language and prefer the basic British food.

I suppose so. But like I said, as well as those more working/lower-middle-class immigrants in the Med, you also have wealthier Britons in the Arabian Peninsula and (in the past, less so nowadays) Argentina and Southern Africa who largely keep themselves to themselves too. (And in SA and Rhodesia, formerly with the force of the law of course).
