How could the bombings be used as a pretext to start the Second Chechen War if the war started in August and the bombings were in September?
Alexander Litvinenko died from exposure to polonium that he was smuggling into the UK. Polonium is mind blowingly expensive.
If they were going to murder him, they wouldn't use rare and expensive polonium.
That's not saying he wasn't someone they wanted dead. What it says is he died before they got to him.
