A terrorist attack is taking place in Moscow at the moment, apparently at a concert. Several dead and hostages. It's a bit reminiscent of the Chechen attack in 2002, but so far no one has claimed the attack.

Shooting and blast reported at concert hall near Moscow

RIA agency says at least three people in camouflage gear opened fire, while Tass reports a blast and a fire

At least a dozen people have been wounded and many more wounded according to unofficial reports in the worst terror attack in Russia in years, as gunmen in combat fatigues opened fire and detonated explosives in a big concert hall in Moscow.

Photos showed the Crocus City Music Hall engulfed in flames as videos emerged from the concert hall attack, showing at least four gunmen opening fire from automatic weapons as panicked Russians fled for their lives.

In one video, three men in fatigues carrying rifles fired at point blank range into bodies strewn about the lobby of the concert hall. The attackers also apparently detonated explosives, as the the sounds of blasts could be heard in other videos from the attack.

Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the attack a “great tragedy.” At least 50 ambulances had been dispatched to the site of the attack.

“The attackers presumably opened fire at the entrance to the building during a concert, using automatic weapons, and then a fire began in the building,” said emergency services. Authorities said that up to five people took part in the attack.

Russian media reports said that riot police units were sent to the area as people were being evacuated.

My friend lives 1,5 km from the Crocus City Hall and sees the fire and roof now from his 10th floor. In 2002 he lived 500 meters from concert hall Dubrovka where the terrorist attack took place. Also, one of my last year of school classmates died in 2002 attack, 4 months after we finished school.

Also, I remember 2009 Moscow underground explosions at Lubianka and Park Kultury metrostations, I was listening to radio walking to my local metrostation and decided to switch to taxi on way to my job.

There's no certainty yet, but it seems to be Jihadists once again. The gunmen are being described as bearded individuals in camouflage. There were messages circulating on Telegram from Islamic groups saying that they would replicate the 2002 attack, according to Portuguese media. It looks like it's going to be one of the biggest terrorist attacks ever in Russia, 40 dead so far, but I predict that there will actually be hundreds more dead as there were 6,000 people inside.

Who knows, we will see. Jihadi aesthetics is extremely popular in Neonazi circles in Eastern Europe including our precious neighbors (I don't blame them now, just beards prove nothing exact).
