If the US was behind the attack what was the point of giving Russia advanced warning of the attack (including the city of the attack)? I've never heard of a terrorist attack with an advanced warning from the terrorists themselves about the location.

I definitely support Ukraine, and I would do so no matter who was president. Putin is an imperialist and a "megathief" (a word that I coined myself) of land. Not only is Putin trying to steal land that doesn't belong to him, he's killed thousands upon thousands of Ukrainian civilians and soldiers.

There is a practical reason for the U.S. to support Ukraine as well. As I've said before, Putin has threatened Alaska. Also, if I remember correctly, the Russian media has made a not-so-implicit nuclear threat against the City of New York.
