There's no certainty yet, but it seems to be Jihadists once again. The gunmen are being described as bearded individuals in camouflage. There were messages circulating on Telegram from Islamic groups saying that they would replicate the 2002 attack, according to Portuguese media. It looks like it's going to be one of the biggest terrorist attacks ever in Russia, 40 dead so far, but I predict that there will actually be hundreds more dead as there were 6,000 people inside.

This seems to me like the typical modus operandi of radical Islamists, shooting indiscriminately at civilians in a concert hall, plus bombs, explosions and hostages. Far-right attacks usually target ethnic minorities in places of worship for example and are usually carried out solo, and in this case there seem to be about ten shooters. The similarity with the 2002 attack doesn't seem to me to be a mere coincidence either. We'll have to wait, though, including the Russians themselves. This is a serious breach of security on Russian soil and a stinging blow to Putin, who has just been elected. It seems that the Russian media are deliberately reporting as little as possible about the incident for the time being.

It seems ISIS tried their hand at a terror attack in a synagogue last month, and now they're branching out to target the general Russian population. What's next on their agenda, a bake sale to fund their nefarious deeds?
