Man, sincerely, your opinion from another side of the World based on Internet and own ideas is irrelevant in 90% of cases. What EU citizens think and others who have real experience with Russians in own societies matter.

In Germany: they are utter shit

In Cyprus: tourists mostly

In Mexico (city): prostitutes

In FL (Hollywood area): tourists also, but the women will try anything to marry locals and stay there (through lies mostly)

The only place I haven't been to personally verify is SE Asia but as soon as I visit I'll make a report. In any case, based on what I've seen, I wouldn't consider russians model immigrants under any circumstance or consider them this world's saviors under any perspective.

You contradict yourself somehow with the paki comment your first you say it does not matter they are ethnic italians if they are born in peru they are peruvians but then you say pakis born in UK and who speak english are not british but pakis you apply different principles

Morti is right. If your ethnic background is mostly italian then you can identify yourself as italian. Thats same in Hungary, the ungarndeutschen have been affected by assimilation, but many of them started to identify themselves as germans again and they start to learn the language what their ancestors spoked. They are such germans like everyone else. Just like assimilated hungarians who live in Romania, Slovakia can be hungarian as well, it depends on their identity.
The european history is complex and our family was often divided and sometimes we became far away from each other, but a good nation gives help for every lost brother, doesnt matter where do they live If someone takes their ethnic identity seriously then they will learn the language too after a while

Makes zero sense to be Croat and live abroad, unless it's temporarily. Love isn't showed by declarations and words but deeds.

A lot of the time they don't think they're the real deal, but a real deal... and they have a point, often.

I am pretty familiar with the Russian-American community that arrived in the US about a century ago, I am around them often due to religious reasons. They are still thoroughly Russian, most remain largely unmixed, but they retained a form of Russian culture that was not significantly affected by Soviet culture. Even though they've been in the US for a century, they are still a type of Russian, no more or less legitimate than the ones who stayed in Russia.

The same can be said about certain other immigrant groups. They preserve a form of the culture that was changed by different influences "back home".

As a person from the Czech Republic, I think people like the Texas Czechs are pretty cool - I don't look down on them for thinking they're "really Czech", they basically might as well be, they've just had different influences for the past 100-200 years. I don't really see the problem with that.
