    Default Y-37 vs Y-111 vs Big Y-700

Can someone explain how they narrow down your Y-DNA in simple terms?

I was gonna say bigger is better, but deep diving Y is rabbit hole, better go full Y and be done with it.

So, you are simply saying go bigger or go home.

So, Big Y-700 is the option you should opt for.

Y37 and Y111 are for finding close relatives.
But you have a high probability of having "chance" matches with no genealogical links.
These tests are used less and less.

Big Y is the most complete test with no chance of random matches.
This will only be informative for you if people in your lineage are tested.
In genealogy, a DNA test alone is worthless. We always compare ourselves to others.

If your entourage or ethnic group tests very little, you will necessarily have fewer convincing results.

Not very common. Most as you said are J or E. Interestingly though many Christian men from Bethlehem belong to G, however they are G1, while I am G2.
