Mentally, what is the difference between irish and english ?

Well I wasn't even aware of that. I just thought that of all Germanics Bavarians are the most distant to the English. As I said my point was the absurdity of saying that the English have a Germanic mindset due to one Germanic tribe the Anglo-Saxons. So where does that Germanic mindset come from the Bavarians, the Swedes or the Anglo-Saxons? People say daft stuff. I never knew Germans had any inter-tribal issues?

Germanic is a term for the region rather than the language, i call myself Germanic-Mediterranean because my heritage is basically east England, North sea and in all likelihood Holland, Germany, the language is irrelevant, i don't feel like i have close ties to Bavarians or Swiss, my ancestors probably came from France and the low countries if phenotypes are anything to go by. I wish there was a broader term to refer to people from England to Germany and Austria but for now i will stick with Germanic or NW Euro.

As a Scot, I feel no more affinity with the Northern English than I do with the Southern English, and while I have nothing against the English or the Welsh for that matter, I feel far more affinity with the Irish, you will be hard pressed to find many people in Western Scotland and the Central belt that don't have some Irish ancestry, not to mention our shared Gaelic heritage. As for Scotland not being a country, not only is it a country, it's the oldest country in the Isles, founded in 843 AD, predating England by 84 years, maybe it's Northern England that is just Southern Scotland?

Why would you not feel affinity with N English? I feel there are so many similarities, both love pies, gravy, fish and chips, curry, minced beef, both love rock music more and heavy metal, both like hillwalking and the natural environment. Even where music is concerned you have a version of the bagpipes in Northumberland, the smallpipes which are similar to the Uiellean pipes.

That makes sense, Devon feels a bit more like the rest of western Britain, it's funny actually i went to the south west coast of Scotland near Stranraer with my dad and he said that it reminded him a lot of Cornwall and Devon with even the architecture being similar, as typical English i think of the thatched roofs and wonky houses of Wiltshire and Suffolk

I wouldn't say that blue eyes automatically make you fully white, lots of Kalash, Tajiks etc have light or blue eyes but they are still basically quite exotic. many Irish have more of a base Caucasoid element that is more related to more eastern peoples in the Balkans, Levant, Turkey.

Why are you all of a sudden talking rubbish? The Kalash and Tajiks are Asians (that’s why they look exotic!!!), some of them might have blue or green eyes. Blue or green or gray colors are most common in Europe especially Northern Europe. The Irish are probably the most North - Western European population in the world. Ireland has one of the world’s highest ratio of light eyes. They cannot be more related to the Balkanites, Levantines, Turkish, etc…. than the English and other Germanic peoples. Irish are one of Europe’s most CM population (notably Brunn in this case).
