    I think it's moreso that Eastern music sounds Greek. It is my understanding that classical Middle Eastern and South Asian music is closer to pre-medieval Eurasian music than most European classical music is, especially because of the continued use of just intonation (makams, ragas, etc.) rather than 12EDO.
