Creativity is key for innovation. In order to create something new you need to imagine it first. Imagination and creativity sets apart an ordinary follower that uses the knowledge of others from a creater that makes a new product or invention. Take science fiction for example, what considered to be a fantasy even 50-60 years ago is now a reality.

What was considered to be a fantasy 50 years ago is just simply a natural evolution of science and technology. With just a bit reading on history of science and technology you would see that all of it would happen without Star Trek or whatever novel. Lulz at people thinking that people are robots without imagination without reading novels. As if people wouldn't invent a mobile phone or whatever without Star Trek. Again, I am not against novels. I am against novels, poems in schools and similar crap. Students are already cramed with their own subjects related to their profession. In their free time, outside of school and not related to school they can do and read whatever they can.
