They put a lot of money into it though, more that $1 billion for sure. Iran fired 100+ medium range ballistic missiles - these are big bois. I'm not even counting here the cruise missiles.

It just means that Iranian military sector is blooming - in addition to huge continuous expensive orders from Russia, they can experiment with expensive test attacks on such effective systems as "Iron Dome".

It's the first ever "real" test attack on Israel, before Israel had to deal only with Qassams made in a garage.

As for Shaheds, they proved to be a nice tool to exhaust the air defense in Ukraine. They're cheap and rapidly produced, every of them costs tens if not hundreds of times less than one shot from air defense system to neutralize one Shahed.

Iran is already an experienced manufacturer of rocket artillery to ballistic missiles, hence they have quite a big stockpile as well.

In regards to blooming, let's be serious, Iran's economy has stagnated for more than 4 decades now. And they're jealous as hell on the Saudis, because they know they could have been in their place economically, if not for the Islamic revolution (read involution).

SPAAGs are the proper way to cheaply deal with Shahed-type drones. But bean counters removed SPAAGs from inventories, that's why Shaheds are such a headache.

Yes, and Russian economics died in 2022 April or May, Ukrainian troops are at the Crimean seashore and Russia broke up into 100 independent kantris.

You can't know capability of the air defense system without giving it a good stress test, just not everyone has resources for such tests. Big advantage of Israel in comparison with Ukraine is its size, it's way easier to cover.
