Most owners here in Russia feed large dogs with a mixture of boiled buckwheat or barley with minced meat, liver, sometimes eggs are added. Vitamins are also added. But the portions are incomparable.

Well, it is the BARF diet that became fashionable a few years ago, some add cereals and raw eggs in addition, but fresh meat has very little protein, if I remember correctly a 6% and a minimum adult dog needs a 25% of protein, so I am more partidian of industrial compound feeds that guarantee this protein and even more if the dog has more physical activity, in addition to vitamins and minerals in the right proportion for the dog.

Wanting a dog to eat like we dois nothing more than an act of anthropomorphism, since the dog has very few taste receptors on the tongue unlike humans, so the dog is guided by smell, chewing and swallowing without turning the food in the mouth, so it cannot taste or savor the food as we humans do, so making wrong decisions in feeding a dog based on our own way of eating can lead to serious consequences in the long run for our pet.
