My immediate next door neighbor is black and he listens to rock music sometimes. His apartment is on the other side of my bedroom wall and I can hear what he's playing. I also know he is a woman beater. I avoid him as much as possible but sometimes the mail carrier puts my mail in his mailbox and he brings it over.
    Spoiler!

90s RNB is popular but only hipsters seem to play rap before 2005, i would say that Black men are more interested in contemporary music, i did know a young mainly black South African woman who was a big fan of Jamuraqui.

There are def many exceptions though, and I know a few.

Also isn't it interesting that rock n' roll essentially started out from African American roots in some ways, and then people like Elvis got into and made it huge? Not to mention the Beatles and such later. But it has evolved a lot from the old days of simple 50s rock n roll. I almost want to say it is dead as a mainstream genre today, sadly. Mid 90s were the last great period. Now it's mostly indie and alt artists, and most good stuff is underground.

I'm more confused about why they don't like jazz. You go to a jazz concert and the audience is overwhelmingly white.

Because of randomness + genetics + environment + choice. Sometimes I choose to vote left, sometimes right, eat chicken and watermellon, or eat vegan. It's also determined by social hierarchy, a peasant won't have exactly the same culture as a king. conflict can also influence the culture, peace allows the brain to grow and develop culture even further. Overpopulation combined with high diversity is no good, that's for sure. Put 100 african tribes in the same country, and get ready for chaos.

There is one black metal group whose first album in 1992 is considered as groundbreaking. It's Body Count and the album has the same name.

In earlier times Jazz used to be quite black.

And yet, half of the musicians (depending on country) are black.

Because jazz is posh? I doubt a jazz concert will have many proles but a rock concert will often have everyone from tradies to lawyers.

Many of the pioneers of rock music were black.

However, it is true that far fewer black musicians delve into metal (with some exceptions).

My guess is that pop and R&B are smooth, lullaby-like songs, and so they have universal reach. Rap too seems to be universally understood. It's just aggressive lyrics delivered on a rhythm.

Metal on the other hand is horse rider/raider music on a gallop rhythm. Not everyone seems to be in-tune with that. R or Q haplos is required
