The frequency of the highly penetrant blue eye HERC2 variant at rs12913832 in the Dutch population may be more similar to Scandinavians and Baltic Finns than White British based on Genome of the Netherlands Release 5. The British including Scottish definitely appear to be both dark haired and dark eyed for their latitude in Europe.
    While the dark eyed minority in Scotland is significant the majority of Scots still surpass the Scandinavians when it comes to pale skin and pure Brunn phenotypes.

    Of course. Scots and other British tend to have more very fair and melanocomprised complexions than other Northern Europeans at a similar latitude despite a generally stronger tendency towards darker eyes and hair.

    They don't particularly look different to the Southern English. In fact, Scots overlap way more with other British Isles groups than with nearby Icelanders and Norwegians.

    Well the differences are enough to be distinct, I agree Norwegians and Icelanders look more foreign but these Scots still look more atypical in London than many northern French and Belgians and even Germans.

    Excluding face shape/complexion (and the Euros have been a fine example in that regard when taking into account the Scottish fans that have swarmed German cities; it is a particularly STARK contrast. The native fans are noticeably more tanned with glowing complexions and with narrower/longer faces, whilst the Scots are much broader/rounder-faced and look almost snow-white in comparison to their hosts) when it comes to individual facial features I would say that the following have VERY Scottish faces (to my eyes, just my own personal assortment);
    Brian Limond, Sean Biggerstaff (English surname), Martin Compston, Greg Hemphill, Stuart Adamson, Andy Robertson (who has been mentioned a comically shit-tonne of times but it's par for the course), Jim Kerr, James Cosmo, Jack Bruce, Gavin Mitchell, Iain Connell (Irish surname), John McGinn (Irish surname). These guys would find it pretty hard to pass as English, but they would also look atypical in Ireland. It shouldn't really surprise the struggle that many Scots have in passing as English, since they are primarily Brythonic, whilst only a minority of the English genome is of the same admixture (instead being mainly derived from northern German/northern French sources).

    Scots have a lot of Gaelic mixture. I wouldn't say they are primarily Brythonic as West Scotland clusters with Ireland. Also Scots have some mixture with Vikings, Flemish, Anglo-Saxon in parts thrown into the mix.

    To me these Scots don't look Irish for the most part, just Scottish, Irish people tend I have noticed to have flatter rounder faces. Someone like Swinney of the SNP looks very Scottish.

    Here's some Irish politicians from different parts of Ireland. Just for comparison purposes.
