I wonder if a 'Marty McFly and Doc Brown' friendship (like in Back to the Future, you know) could work out in real life. Probably not.

I know of something similar IRL. An age gap friendship between two men is probably not that unusual. There was a band I used to open for (a Rock noise duo) . The younger man was in his early 20s (barely 21 at the time I met him), and the other man in the duo was in his 60s. They toured around playing different events together. I never thought anything odd of it. They seemed to be good friends. In this day, although, the boy was over 21, one could read into that it was like a kind of relationship other than just friendship, and an older man going for a younger man. They were not gay, however. They were just very close friends. The older man died recently.
