The Slavs I have met (mainly from Yugoslavia, the two Russian girls in my high school class and the Czechs when I was in Prague) seem to be a weird bunch. Friendly ? Not the happy clappy and the pat-on-the-shoulder "mate !" friendliness that I had expected but they were friendly in other ways: by showing courtliness and hospitality. I remember that when I was in Prague my pal and we're preparing to leave our camping and I noticed when I went to take a shower that the line to the shower cabin was a bit long and so did the owner who knew that we were about to leave and who kindly invited me to use the family shower. Something that wouldn't happen in this country, for sure, if you didn't know the owner personally.
I found the Czechs, in particular, to be a very agreeable people (almost like the Germans) who were honest and never charged you too much and that always came up with some travel advise "you might want to see this too.. not many tourists know this place."
The two Russian girls in my class were smashing. Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and well-educated (for what I saw). Well I was 14, 15 but they were fine class mates.
